Houston Attractions to Visit While Social Distancing.

This may sound strange, but one benefit of being under order of social distancing is that we have no choice but to rest and take it easy. But soon, “take it easy” makes you get “cabin fever”.

We are fortunate that we can leave the house to take part in outdoor activities like walking, running, biking, and fishing. It gives us something to work with. Because I care, I’ve made a list of the best of Houston attractions that are outside and FREE! You also do not have to touch anyone and can keep your 6 foot distance.

Waterwall Park in the Galleria

Located at 2800 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056 in the Galleria Area, you will find the Waterwall. You can get some fresh air. There is room for running around the rim of the park and down the middle. Although, we will suggest against using the park benches, you could bring your blanket and have a picnic lunch. Be sure to take some great photos.

Skyspace on Rice University Campus

Located on the Rice University Campus is Skyspace by James Turrell. This is one of 70 sky spaces by Turrell. At sunrise and sunset, it becomes an LED light show. Skyspaces are used in the Quaker religion to honor God. Though they may not start the light show to prevent a crowd, you can take a calming walk on Rice University campus and take pictures of it.

Police Officer’s Memorial

Located between Buffalo Bayou Park and Downtown, you will find the Police Officer’s Memorial. This memorial honors all the fallen officers in Houston. It is the shape of a Greek Cross. You can access this memorial by a long walk in Buffalo Bayou Park. Get exercise, honor cops, and take great pictures.

Allen’s Landing in Downtown Houston

After you check out the Police Officer’s Memorial, you can continue your walk or run to see Allen’s Landing. This is the site where the Allen brothers (founders of Houston) first stepped onto the land that became Houston. This makes for a very refreshing walk outside. As you can see, you can score some frame worthy pictures.

I hope this list helps you until life goes back to normal. Tourism Gym is busy creating new experiences. Get on our mailing list to be the first to know and share on social media, please. Til next time.
