Tourism Gym Raves: Uncle Beans Coffee and SoulFreak.

Uncle Beans Coffee

If you have ever taken a walk or a run in Woodland Heights, you have already experienced the splendor of the Victorian homes and Live Oak trees. Well, nestled between Bayland and Houston Avenue is Uncle Beans Coffee. You can walk up or drive through for the best coffee around. My personal favorite is the Cold Brew Shandy, a refreshing mixture of cold brew coffee and lemonade that will light your fire. After one of these babies, you’ll be more than ready to run.

Uncle Beans is owned by Rusti Hendrix and Ruben Zamarippa. If you become a regular at Uncle Bean’s, three things will stand out:

  • Rusti’s cheerful style that really shows up from the patio furniture to the hot pink coffee sleeve.

  • Rusti and Ruben’s deep seated belief that local businesses should benefit the community and should stick together. Just visit one their events like the farmer’s market.

  • Uncle Beans parades the cutest dogs and children. Get your picture on at Uncle Beans.

When you go in, please remember to tell them Tourism Gym sent you.

Soul Freak

Another place I’ve been frequenting is Soulfreak. Sitting at the entrance of the enchanting island that is called Clear Lake Shores is the local coffee shop and art studio. Local artist and resident Amy Lyn aims to bring the unique experience to the Saltwater Soul vibe of Clear Lake Shores and Kemah, Texas.

Take the easy walk or run around the island. Check out the colorful beach homes, the wide variety of bird life and flying fish, and watch the boats sail off into the sunset. Then, finish your time with a glass of wine at Soulfreak. Not your average coffee house. Here, you can take an art class, learn how to play the ukulele, or attend a wine tasting.

Check out their website for their next event and of course, tell them that Tourism Gym sent you.
